Several years ago, I was introduced to three amazing preachers at the BASICS Conference: Derek Prime, Eric Alexander, and Dick Lucas. They are pillars of pulpit ministry from a previous generation but still have much to teach us today.
I recently discovered that Proclamation Trust have several of Lucas’ sermon series available for free download. I would start with 1 and 2 Timothy. From there, you can listen to him expound on Romans, Galatians, 1 Corinthians, Colossians, Hebrews, 2 Peter, and John 3-6 as he explains the interpretive key to the Gospel of John is the very one John gives us: Evidence, Faith, and Life (John 20:30-31).
You can learn more about Lucas’ life and ministry by listening to his interview with 9 Marks. And you can find other assorted sermon at Monergism.com.
OK more Christian groupie-ness: not only have I served tea to American tourists in CS Lewis’ dining room in Oxford; I also had dinner with Dick Lucas – I was on a small-group preaching course deep in the English countryside for 3 days.
I absolutely LOVE the Romans series. I have probably listened to it three or four times in the last few years.
