Okay, here’s some good news for all of you bibliophiles out there (like me).
First off, I’ve just seen that D. A. Carson has a new book coming out in a little bit. It’s called the Intolerance of Tolerance. This looks to be an expanded version of a talk he’s given several times before. Amazon lists the unabridged audio book as well as hardcover and softcover editions. Should be excellent. (Hopefully, his planned commentaries on John Letter’s, Hebrews, Galatians, and Revelation will be out soon!)
Westminster Books is offering an incredible deal that ends today (I think) on a new book called, When Helping Hurts: How to Alleviate Poverty Without Hurting the Poor…and Yourself. It’s marked down from $14.99 to $4.89. Get them while they last.
Christian Audio is offering Francis Chan’s book, Crazy Love, as their free audio download this month. Crazy Love is a great book that calls on Christians to think about the amazing, crazy love shown to them by God to sinners like themselves and calls them to respond in like manner with a crazy love for God. I think this would be a great book for churches’ small groups to go through and discuss.
Finally, a story about books from domestic life. The other day, I was teasing my 5 year old daughter that if she didn’t behave, I wouldn’t give her the book I recently bought for her. She asked, “What book?” I said, “The Big Book of Questions and Answers about Jesus.” She rolled her and eyes and said, “Daddy, we already have that book – it’s the Bible!” That’s daddy’s girl!
