Several bloggers have alerted us to the new website devoted to the Rev Eric Alexander. If you’re not familiar with Rev Alexander, you need to be. He is a model of excellence and godliness in pastoral ministry and sets the standard for expository preaching. He was influential in the lives of several Christian leaders, including Alistair Begg.
Several years ago, Alexander was at Begg’s Basics Conference along with two other large figures in the British church – Derek Prime and Dick Lucas. That was perhaps the greatest of the Basics Conferences and hearing Alexander preach there made me realize why he had such an impact on ministers who knew him well.

The site has a brief biography of Alexander and some links related to Alexander’s interests and ministry. But the real treat on the site is the archive of audio sermons. Categorized into Old Testament expository sermons, New Testament expository sermons, and topical sermons, the site promises constant updates as older messages are digitized.
As one who strives for faithfulness and excellence in expository preaching, this is a real treat. Much like sitting at the feet of other preachers from the past through their websites (Lloyd-Jones comes to mind), this new website is an incredible opportunity to sit at the feet of an amazing preacher to receive both rich feeding from God’s Word as well as practical instruction on how to carry on a lasting preaching ministry. The result is an increased ministry for Alexander.
Though Rev Alexander has retired from pastoral ministry, he continues to speak at conferences and write articles, and we remain thankful to God for this gift to the Church.
