Fix the Economy, Kill Babies

Politics aside, I think all of these governments bailouts are only going to hurt us in the end.  But I was really blown away by the most recent information to come out about how our tax dollars will be doled out to help “stimulate the economy.”

While I was preparing to proclaim a message from God’s Word and many churches around the country were celebrating the value and sanctity of human life made in God’s image, politicians were making the argument that our birthrate was a cause of financial difficulty:

STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?

PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children’s health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those – one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.

STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?

PELOSI: No apologies. No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.

So, here’s the thinking . . .  Children are a drain on society because they cost money.  Since we want to help save money and get the economy going, we should put millions of more government money into making sure we don’t have kids and if we do, we can easily kill them before they cost us too much.

How much different is God’s view of children –

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.  Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them!  He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.

And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them.  But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.
