I thought I’d start off 2009 with some highlights of what I found interesting on other sites about 2008 (and some other misc stuff thrown in for fun!).
- Albert Mohler (who will forever be President Mohler to me) provides a list of ten history-making stories in 2008.
- Tony Reinke and Timmy Brister give their list of top books in 2008.
- Steve Lawson’s book on the Unwavering Resolve of Jonathan Edwards will be a big help for people thinking about changing habits by helping them see how one man put God at the center of entire life.
- Colin Marshall encourages Christians to get together one-on-one for Bible reading and prayer. This is an excellent way of discipling someone, about which more can be found in Sophie Peace’s excellent book.
- N. T. Wright has responded to John Piper’s critique of his views on justification. Previously he was interviewed about these things by by Ben Witherington (who unfortunately displayed his man-crush on Wright for all to see).
- Apparently, 2008 will be known as the year Global Warming lost much of its hot air (= not as man-made as Al Gore thought).
- Finally, my favorite literary character – Sherlock Holmes – is getting a facelift by two of my favorite screen-writers.
