Tony over The Shepherd’s Scrapbook recently put me on to “sermon jams.” What is a sermon jam? The guys over at 10:31 Sermon Jams have blended contemporary music with clips from sermons. So you can hear the impassioned pleas of John Piper to behold the glory of God over driving techno music.
Tthe guys who put these things together took their name (and mission) from 1 Corinthians 10:31 – “do all to the glory of God.” That means, they don’t put just anyone’s sermons to music. Instead, they have purposely picked clips that make much of the glory of God in the saving work of Christ.
Tony says that he loves using sermon jams at the gym and for personal devotions. The guys at 10:31 also envision these serving as a kind of 21st century audio tract.
Either way, their creations seem to be the perfect blending of contemporary technology, popular culture, and the gospel of Jesus Christ – all for the glory of God.
I love these sermon jams as well. I see that there is now a new website that allows onling streamling for listening or free downloads at http://www.1031sermonjams.com
